Appendix G: Passion and Strengths Assessments
This appendix serves as a reflective tool kit to help you uncover your passions and strengths. These assessments are designed not to provide definitive answers but to prompt thoughtful questions (see chapter 19).
Tips for Using These Assessments
- Approach with curiosity.
- Revisit every few months.
- Share responses with a mentor or support group (see chapter 15).
- Use discoveries to set SMART goals (see chapter 15).
Assessment 1 – Discovering Your Passions
What activities or topics make time fly by for you? If you had a day with no obligations, how would you spend it? Recall a time you felt truly alive. What skills or hobbies did you develop during challenging times?
Assessment 2 – Identifying Your Strengths
What do people compliment you on? Think of a challenge you’ve overcome — what qualities helped you through it? In group settings, what role do you naturally take on?
Assessment 3 – Aligning Passions and Strengths
Which passion best matches one of your strengths? How might that combination contribute to your reentry goals? Write a short-term step and a long-term vision.
